Once my paid Norton subscription expired, I loaded this onto my desktop PC. It loaded easily and seemed simple enough. Then it asked me to run it’s first scan. I finally stopped it after 2.5 hours! My son uses our PC primarily for gaming. It locked him up, froze the game and caused the computer to lag horribly. It ate up the memory and scanning took forever. After 2 days, we removed it from the computer and downloaded free software from Microsoft (and now our internet provider is offering Norton free of charge (instead of McAfee which they used to offer which I also disliked), so we will be downloading that shortly.
I don’t know if Bit just isn’t compatible with Windows Vista or if it needs a larger PC with more memory/HD space (altho ours is a pretty good size), but I wouldn’t recommend this product. Microsoft’s virus protection works just as well and much much faster with little to no effect on the speed of your PC and it’s free of charge!

In reading over the system requirements on a different website, I noticed that there were “software requirements”, such as Yahoo Messenger, Outlook, Outlook Express, Firefox (which I do use)etc., several others. Do you have to have, for example, either Outlook or Outlook Express (neither of which I use)or an IM program installed on your computer for Bitdefender to work correctly? Could someone please explain why this program has these requirements. Thanks in advance.

The strongest security solution i have ever tested, i am using this anti-virus for 2 years now and i am very happy with it, the reason why i missed a star is that some bugs were not fixed yet in the interface and its hard to unblock and use stuff on the firewall, other than that its perfect

When it does come down to PC sercurity software, there are very few software programs that really run smooth and straight forward with all PC’s. That was what I found surprising with Bitdefender’s PC Security Siftware It is simple and easy to comprehend if you own Windows 7 Software, as well as a Apple PC. However, if you own a older PC version of Windows like Windows XP, you unfortunately will find that the software will not run as smoothly. It actually handles well with Windows Vista though. The security and protection is very strong, and gives a detailed and strong screening of anti-virus and spyware, but also handles well with online protection with your computer, without many flaws while you surf the web. I really recommend Bitdefender’s programs as a great buy for your PC protection.
