I’ve tried many audio books, CDs, and even taking classes in order to get rid of my French accent. This program is definitely the best so far. Well worth the investment (much cheaper than taking a class) and you can go back to it over and over again. Personally I think the best way to use it is to study 30 minutes a day. There are so many words for each sound that it takes a while to master a sound. One of the best features is that you can save words for review later. So you can narrow down your list of words to the ones that you want to practice in particular. Another great feature is to see the APA pronunciation next to the word you are listening to (I recommend using the American Phonetic Alphabet vs. the International Phonetic Alphabet – which was the one I studied in school). It really helps understand how the words should be pronounced. I love the on-line dictionary linked to translation websites. It allows you to learn so many new words by just the click of a button. There are so many features that it takes a while to master them all. You need to spend 1-2 days to understand how the software works. If you don’t take the time to learn, you can become easily frustrated. The only drawback is that there are a few bugs in particular when you need to download an update. Just be patient. The creator of the software is very reponsive in helping you redownload the software. I highly recomment this product. But again, practice is the key!

I use Pronunciation Patterns since 2007 and find it very helpful and useful tool to help me with the way I speak English. It is well designed, easy to use, and provides immediate feedback. I would recommend it especially to people who communicate on English and it isn’t their native tongue.

I use this software almost everyday. If without it I feel it is inconvenient for me to studying English.
English is my second language. There are a lots of new words which I don’t understand and can’t pronounce them, and also there are many many words which I understand but can’t pronnouce them correctly or influently.Since I used this software, I found out my pronunciation have been significantly improved.
I think the best features for this software is that the pronounciation of the words I look for can be sequentially stored and automatically connected to [...]. I can easily understand the meanings of words and their application. I often repeatedly pronouce them and make them instill my mind. Of course, I can pronouce them naturally without thinking. I think I’m lucky to find this software after trying other programs.

I was very impressed by an American children’s TV program, Between the Lions, to assist people in practicing and improving their pronunciation. The software includes all of the essential features of pronunciation training and accent modification for people who are non-native English speakers. After using this software, I have modified my accent significantly. It is very effective, practical and comprehensive. I highly recommend this pronunciation software to anyone who is interested in pronunciation training and accent reduction.

This is the best software I have seen for practising speaking native American English. Actually, I have wasted a lot of money on that before I met with this software. From my experience, I think the biggest drawback of most books or CD for getting rid of English accent is that the learner does NOT know exact movement of his or her tongue and use what part of throat to pronounce although the correct pronunciation is available on most CDs. Even if some teachers gives you instructions to pronounce words,you still cannot see what is going on inside their mouths, how they move their tongue and to what degree. Under such a constraint, the best we can do is to do our best to imitate the pronunciation, which I think is the cause of English accent. This software successfully solves this problem and it clearly shows you how to move your tongue and use what part of throat to correctly pronounce a word, a consonant and a vowel. This is the point I like most about this software.
In addition, this software integrates many other features,such as recording your pronunciation, speech recognition function, online English-learning resources. The most attractive charasteristic of speech recognition function is that you can tell what part of a pronunciation should be stressed and what part of a pronunciation should be unstressed from the wave diagram (voice spectrum). This will save a lot of money and time compared to taking an ESL course.Moreover,this software keeps updating and you will always get the newest version if you use the network edition.
The motivation of my writing such a long review is that after-sale service is very nice.Due to software update and different operating systems used by different customers, you may need the technical support during the installation. The author is very responsible and patient and usually offers such a support at the same day when you send an email.
